Requirements for Document Notarization
- Valid ID: The signer must present a valid government-issued ID with a photograph.
- Age: All Signers must be age 18+ and present to sign all documents.
- Personal Appearance: All signers must be physically present before the Notary Public.
- Document: Ensure the document is filled out completely, with no blanks left.
- Knowledge of the Document: The signer should have a general understanding of the document’s content. Notaries are not responsible for verifying the accuracy of the document’s contents.
- Notary Certificates: Please know which Notary Certificate is needed for the document you need notarized as a Notary cannot give advice on which one is to be used.
- Appropriate Fee: Please Be prepared to pay the notary fee. This varies by the type of document and special circumstances.
- Special Circumstances: Some documents may have specific requirements, such as witnesses or additional forms. Check the requirements for your specific document.
